KOKRAJHAR,JUNE 15: The Green Bodoland Mission ( GBM ), an initiative of government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) was ceremonially launched on Saturday amidst a well attended gathering held at the BTC Secretariat Complex, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar.
The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro launched the Bodoland Green Mission (GBM) amidst presence of BTR executive members, MCLAs, government officials,NGO members, students from different colleges, community leaders.
The GBM has been emphasizing for bringing green & celebrating life across the Bodoland region, and subsequently ceremonial plantation of trees under the Green Bodoland Mission and unveiling of Logo was held on the occasion.
CEM Pramod Boro and several dignataries have planted trees at the BTC Secretariat complex on the occasion.
A sapling distribution amongst the gathering was also carried out as well a discussion on the reforestation was held.
CEM Boro has highlighted about the importance of green & smart environment amongst the humanity, said that the green and healthy environment brings healthy life of the humanity.He has opined that the cutting down of trees and destruction of forest environment creates imbalance environment besides creating unsuited heat waves on human living in the world.
He said that massive tree plantation initiative has been initiated to make reforestation in Bodoland region under the Green Bodoland Mission,and necessary steps are so far taken away.
He said that the GBM is an initiative to make green & smart Bodoland in days to come,and necessary strategies have been initiated by Govt of BTR.
CEM Boro has announced that the BTC Secretariat office would be plastic free within a week to maintain a congenial environment.He said that no any kinds of plastic including water bottles of plastic would be allowed inside the BTC Secretariat.
“The awareness on the banning of plastics use across the region would be started within few days.The BTC Secretariat will be plastic free environment within a week to get a healthy environment inside the BTC Secretariat”, Boro added.
Among others, BTCLA speaker, Katiram Boro, BTR EMs Ranjit Basumatary,Dr Nilut Swargiary, Dhananjay Basumatary,Dharma Narayan Das, Rakesh Brahma were prominent attendees in the event.
