KOKRAJHAR,NOV 26: Stepping to eradicate the sparking rate of the malaria in Kokrajhar district, on Tuesday, Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region visited at the Lungsung area,and took stock about the prevailing situation of the malaria outbreak that creating chaos amongst the citizens for past few months.
CEM Boro was accompanied by the BTR executive member, Wilson Hasda, MLA Lawrence Islary and officials from malaria department of Health services,Kokrajhar.
During the visit, a malaria test of the residents along the Lungsung area was conducted by the medical team,and organised an awareness meeting of the increasing rate of the severe malaria disease in the area.
Notably, two persons were reportedly death due to malaria in last few days ago in the district.
The visit followed reports of five child deaths due to malaria in the area. Kokrajhar district has recorded over 2,000 malaria cases this year—a sharp increase compared to the 256 cases reported in 2023. Tragically, two deaths occurred in the past 10 days, including a 4-year-old girl, Shivani Monger, who passed away at Sarfang Hospital in Bhutan, and 27-year-old Jwngsar Wary from Aitugaon village, who died on November 21.
CEM Boro has asked health services department officials to implement rigorous testing, launch immediate preventive measures, and organize multiple health camps across the district. He emphasized the urgency of providing medical assistance and raising awareness to curb the rising cases.
The alarming situation highlights the need for strengthened healthcare infrastructure and proactive intervention to combat the spread of malaria in the region.
He also instructed the concern authority officials to initiate multiple health camps in several places across the entire district besides creating awareness on the outbreak of the malaria disease.He stated that the health department is committed to step stern measures to eradicate the outbreak of the malaria.
