KOKRAJHAR, JUNE 28: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Tezpur University and government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) was signed in the presence of Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, chief executive member(BTR), Pramod Boro, Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh on Wednesday at a programme held at Tezpur University.
The MoU aims to enhance the knowledge support provided by Tezpur University to promote healthy & sustainable livelihoods in Bodoland Territorial Region.
It has been regarded as a historic step, being taken with the creation of the Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Chair at Tezpur University. This is the first time a Chair in the name of Bodofa UN Brahma has been created in a central university, and marks a befitting tribute to the Father of the Bodo People by bringing his name to the national academic mainstream.
The MoU envisages the extending of knowledge support by the Tezpur University for the improvement of healthy, sustainable livelihoods in BTR with a special emphasis on Agriculture & Agricultural products.
Governor of Assam, Kataria has hailed the signing of MoU between Tezpur University and government of Bodoland Territorial Region, said that the day marks a remarkable milestone for both institutions, signifying the commencement of a promising new chapter in the journey towards fostering academic excellence and overall development for the Bodoland region and Tezpur University.

CEM Pramod Boro termed it a historic step “being taken with the creation of the Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Chair at Tezpur University. He said that the BTR government has been emphasizing for bringing healthy welfare and development while fostering academic excellence overall development in Bodoland region in days to come.
He said the signing of the MoU will usher in a new era of collaboration in developing BTR’s agricultural sector through multidisciplinary research in disease detection & prevention, exploration of food processing & food engineering technologies, etc., between BTR government & one of Assam’s premier universities, the Tezpur University.
