KOKRAJHAR, SEP 30: Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) along with Executive Members(EMs), officers, and employees of Bodoland Territorial Council secretariat paid tributes to Dr MS Swaminathan, eminent agricultural scientist, who passed away on Wednesday.
The homage paying programme was held at BTC Secretariat Complex, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar today amidst presence of government officials and employees of BTC Secretariat.
A one-minute silence was held in memory of the late Dr Swaminathan, eminent agricultural scientist who passed away on Wednesday.
The floral tributes were paid to Dr Swaminathan and the BTC expressed solidarity with the bereaved family members.
In his condolence message, CEM Boro took note of the contributions of Dr Swaminathan in the agricultural sector which finally resulted in ensuring food security for India.
Boro also recollected his leadership in administering institutions like ICAR, International Rice Research Institute, among others.
“His ideology and contributions would be remembered across the state”, Boro added.
Deputy chief executive member of BTR, Gabinda Chandra Basumatary, Principal Secretary of BTC Akashdeep were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
