BTC election concludes peaceful

KOKRAJHAR,SEP 22: The 5th general elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) passed off peacefully with records of more than 72.61 percentage of poll across the 40 constituencies in Bodoland Territorial Region on Monday.

According to the official source, more than 72.61 percentage of poll was recorded till 4.30 pm this evening,and polling was continuing in several polling stations in the districts.

More than 26 lakh voters have excercised their voting rights through the ballot papers to elect their choice public representatives in the council.The polling stations were seen long queued since early morning as voters coming out to franchise their votes.

The poll cast was started at 7.30 am in the morning,and officially ended by the 4 pm across the 40 constituencies in the BTC districts.

In Tamulpur, Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region and UPPL president, excercised his vote at Souraguri LP School polling station.CEM Boro is UPPL candidate for Goibari constituency.He arrived at the polling station accompanied by his wife Parul Bharali Boro,and cast his vote.CEM Boro is also UPPL candidate for Dotma constituency.

CEM Boro stated that the polling of the BTC elections was passed off peacefully in the entire BTR districts till the evening.
He said that the election has been successfully and peacefully completed, and extended his heartfelt gratitude to all citizens of BTR for participating in this grand democratic process with such enthusiasm..He said that the People of BTR have excercised their votes to empower Mothers, secure Land, unite Communities, strengthen Education, and continue journey of Peace across the BTR.

He has expressed his confident that the UPPL party is winning majority seats of the 40 member house of the BTCLA.He is affirmed that the new government in BTC will be formed by UPPL party for straight second consecutive term.

In Kokrajhar, more than 77.97 percentage of polling in 12 constituencies was recorded in the district of Kokrajhar till 4.30 pm in the evening.The polling stations were seen peaceful and smooth in all areas in the district.

Assam cabinet minister, and UPPL founding president, Urkhao Gwra Brahma excercised his vote at Chalani Batabari LP School polling station under Dotma constituency.He reached the polling station accompanied by his house wife in the morning and cast his vote.

BPF president and former BTC chief, Hagrama Mohilary cast his vote at Debargaon HS School polling station under Debargaon constituency in the morning.He is BPF candidate for Debargaon and Chirang Duar constituencies.
