Bodoland join hands for prevailing peace in Manipur incident

KOKRAJHAR,MAY 9: A candle lighting programme for prevailing peace in memory of the recent victims of the Manipur fatricidal clashes was carried out today evening in Kokrajhar.
Hundreds of citizens cutting across the communities participated the programme and lighted candles for praying for return of peace in Manipur state.

Chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro, deputy CEM Gabinda Chandra Basumatary, MLA Lawrence Islary and several dignitaries took part and lighted the candles in front of the BTC Secretariat complex, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar.
The programme was organised by government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) which prayed for return of peace in Manipur of the northeast.

Leading the commemoration, CEM Boro appealed for an understanding between the Kuki and Meitei brethren in the larger interests of amity in Manipur and the region.While reiterating that conflict has always led to destruction and the onus is on accepting the age old values of peaceful coexistence and civilizational values which have made the North East one of India’s most beautiful regions.

Boro while extending solidarity to the state of Manipur incident,said that the Bodoland prays for return of peace in Manipur and accordingly carried out candle lighting programme today in Kokrajhar.
He said that the conflict is always destructive for the society which has been impact on the humanity.
He has urged the peoples of the Manipur state to join hands united to build an integrated environment as well as wellbeing of the Manipur state.
” Let us join hands for cause of humanity Manipur and stand united to make healthy wellbeing of the Manipur state with peace and tranquility “, Boro added.

A one minute silence was also observed in the memory of the victims.
Among others, UPPL general secretaries Raju Kumar Narzary,Madhab Chandra Chetry, BTR executive members Reoreoa Narzihary, Wilson Hasda were also present in the programme.
