KOKRAJHAR, JULY 10: The council level football tournament of the first ever Bodoland CEM Cup 2025 has been kicked off on Thursday being held at the DASA playground, Dotma in Kokrajhar district.
Notably,the mega football tournament has been initiated by the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) under the able leadership of Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region to promote the sporting environment as well as sport’s talents across the region.
The football tournament was started on 14th June last with VCDC level, BTCLA constituency level and district level that created sporting amusement amongst the citizens.
MLA of Gossaigaon LAC,Jiron Basumatary inaugurated the council level football tournament of Bodoland CEM Cup in the august presence of BTR executive member Daobaisa Boro, MLA Lawrence Islary, secretary of Assam Football Association,Dr Sangrang Brahma,and several distinguished dignitaries.
In the inaugural match,Goreswar of Tamulpur district defeated Salbari of Baksa district by 4-3 goals through penalty shots.During the match, both the team played 2-2 goals, and later organisers conducted penalty shot and Goreswar won the match.
The council level football tournament has also been conducted at different three playgrounds- South Aflagaon playground, Banargaon,Taranguri playground, Salakati and SAI stadium, Titaguri in Kokrajhar.
The Bodoland CEM Cup football tournament was conducted in all 420 VCDCs across the BTR that led to organise at different 40 places under BTCLA constituency level.Further,the football tournament was also conducted at different five places under the district level competition,and later conducted council level football competition.
Altogether 3750 teams involving nearly 70,000 players participated in the mega football tournament across the BTR region.
The final match of the tournament will be held at the SAI stadium, Titaguri in Kokrajhar on 15th July and expected a huge crowd of spectators from different parts of the region.
Pramod Boro,the CEM of BTR has extended his warm greetings and best wishes to the organisers and participating teams in the tournament.He stated that the government of BTR has been emphasizing to promote sporting environment and amusement amongst the coming up generations.
