KOKRAJHAR, APRIL 11: The Baukhungri Hill along the Harinaguri of Kokrajhar is all set to host the 11th edition of Baukhungri Festival, a biggest festival in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) which is starting on Thursday with two-day program scheduled.
The massive prepration and arrangements are so far completed to holding the festival with attraction of traditional folk culture, indigenous sports and local food traditions at the Harinaguri which was organised by government of Bodoland Territorial Region( BTR) and Tourism department that marking the celebration of Rongjali Bwisagu with witnessing of hill trekking on the last day of Choitra month on April 13.
A mass hill trekking along the Baukhungri Hills is being organised where peoples cutting across the communities are thronging to attend the mega event.
Several competitions amongst the categories of male & female are also organising which are included mountain bike cycling competition, hills trekking competition, indigenous games & sports competition, showcasing of traditional food items,and cultural demonstrations representing different communities.
The organising committee members of the festival are seen busy while discharging their duty and responsibilities to meet a healthy smooth successful of the mega festival event.
Remarkably, the festival is regarded as a biggest festival in Bodoland region which has been marking the celebration of Rongjali Bwisagu on the last day of Choitra month with the highlighting about the completions like mountain bike cycling, hill trekking and Bwisagu dance competition, traditional food preparation of Gwkha-Gwkhwi with hundred herbs and Jwo bidwi competition during the event.
The winners of the completions would be awarded cash prizes,and gifts.
” The festival has been organising every year on the last day of the Choitra month while celebrating the Rongjali Bwisagu. Participants from different states of the country are so far reached in Kokrajhar to participate the cycling competition hills trekking events.The event spot is now looking attractive with decorations along the hills”, said a member of the festival organising committee.
” I am coming every year at Kokrajhar to participate the Baukhungri festival which is regarded as a biggest festival in the region”, said a festival participant from West Bengal state.
