ALA Budget Session to host on February 17 in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, JAN 10: In a significant initiative,the citizens of Bodoland Territorial Region will be witnessed the Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly in Kokrajhar to be held in February next.

The first day of the Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly would be held at the BTC Legislative Assembly Hall, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar on 17th of February, 2025.
 Assam Governor, Lakshman Prasad Acharya has issued an official order summoning the first day of the Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly to be held at the BTC Legislative Assembly Hall in Kokrajhar. The session will commence on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 12:00 noon.

According to the official order issued by the Governor, the remaining days of the session will be held at the traditional venue in the Assembly Hall at Dispur.
Governor Acharya will inaugurate the session with his address to the House in Kokrajhar. After the opening day, the proceedings will shift back to the Assembly Hall in Dispur for the remainder of the session.  
Citizens cutting across the communities
have hailed the initiative for holding the budget session to be held for the first time in Kokrajhar,said, “This marks the first time the Assembly will convene outside its usual venue in Dispur, showcasing the state government’s commitment to regional inclusion and balanced governance”.

Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region has welcomed the move to hold the Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly in Kokrajhar in February.He stated that necessary preparation and arrangements are made for hosting the budget session of the state in Kokrajhar at the BTC Legislative Assembly Hall, Bodofa Nwgwr.
” This decision highlights Assam’s efforts to strengthen its relationship with the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and recognize its role in the state’s governance framework.By bringing the assembly session to Kokrajhar, the government aims to emphasize regional integration and greater participation in the legislative process.The move is welcomed as a significant step towards decentralizing governance and acknowledging the unique identity of the BTC area”, Boro added.
