KOKRAJHAR, FEB 27: With the hosting of Advantage Assam 2.0 in the state,the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) have the fortunate to get more sustainable developmental aspects in several sectors including education, railway connectivity,and infrastructural aspects.
Notably,the Advantage Assam 2.0 successfully concluded on Wednesday marking a grand participation representing various prominent business houses, corporates representing international and national established companies that saw a several hundred signing of memorandum of understandings (MoU) with government of Assam.
During the event,the Government of Assam and Social Action and Research Foundation (SARF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up Swami Vivekanand University in Chirang district of Bodoland Territorial Region to facilitate educational uplift and social welfare.
The MoU has agreed to invest Rs 219.23 crore while bringing skill based and employment-oriented education in the region.The proposed university will create over 1000 jobs opportunities across the BTR region.
The signing ceremony of MoU took place during the second day of the event on Wednesday in the presence of Assam Education Minister,Dr Ranoj Pegu and officials of the state government of Assam and Social Action and Research Foundation.
The MoU has been emphasizing to focus on the skill-based and employment-oriented education,creation of thousand plus jobs with investment of Rs 219.23 crore to facilitate healthy educational environment in Bodoland region.
Union minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw has declared for proposing a new railway line connecting Kokrajhar -the city of peace to Gelephu of Bhutan via Chirang district.
Vaishnaw also announced that a railway coach factory will be set up at Bashbari in Bodoland region under the spirit of BTR peace accord clauses.
During the event, Union minister for Commerce and Industries, Piyush Goyal also announced to set up several new avenues, forging key partnerships, and accelerating in Bodoland Territorial Region to have more ushering of sustainable development and welfare initiatives.
Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region has lauded the Assam government and chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for organising the Advantage Assam in the state.
