ABSU obvserves 81st birth anniversary of Agdari Baneswar Basumatary

KOKRAJHAR, NOV 1: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) observed 81st birth anniversary of its founder president Agdari Baneswar Basumatary on Wednesday with day-long programme scheduled across the state of Assam.

Notably, Baneswar Basumatary, noted writer and one of imminent intellectual of Bodos, was held founding president and Kanakeswar Narzary, held general secretary of the All Bodo Students Union which was founded on 20th February (1967) to work for the welfare and upliftment of the Bodos and other down trodden communities in the state of Assam.

In Baksa, the central committee of the ABSU in association with Baksa district committee observed the birth anniversary of Agdari Baneswar Basumatary at Koklabari near Mushalpur in Baksa that saw a well gathering amongst the citizens.

As part of the programme scheduled, ABSU president Dipen Boro hoisted union’s flag amidst presence of huge gathering followed by homage to Agdari Baneswar Basumatary by his widow Puleshwari Swargiary at his tomb.
Assam cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, MCLA Mantu Boro, ex MCLA Anip Basumatary,and senior citizens were attended and offered rich floral tributes to the great leader.

An open discussion on the contribution and dedication of Agdari Baneswar Basumatary was also held on the occasion that gathered a well attended from different areas of the district.

ABSU president Dipen Boro, said that the students union is working dedicatedly for the welfare and development of the citizens of the state since it’s inception.He recalled contributions and dedication of Agdari Baneswar Basumatary towards the uplift and development of the Bodos, said that the students union and Bodos will always be remembered ideology and philosophy of Agdari Baneswar Basumatary in days to come.

In Kokrajhar, the district committee and anchalik committees of the All Bodo Students Union observed the birth anniversary with various programme scheduled at different places and offered homage to the great leader.
