KOKRAJHAR, JULY 3: The ruling United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) party has come down heavily on the statement of BPF president Hagrama Mohilary who has recently made allegations against the UPPL party chief and CEM (BTR) Pramod Boro, over the published draft of Constituency Delimitaton by Election Commission of India(ECI) where Kokkrajhar Lok Sabha seat has been retained as reserved for ST (Scheduled Tribes).
Addressing the reporters today at a press conference held at UPPL central office in Kokrajhar, general secretary (admin) of UPPL, Raju Kumar Narzary said that the UPPL party submitted a memorandum before the delegation team of Election Commission of India in March last on demand for creation of two Lok Sabha constituencies including Kokrajhar (reserved for ST) and Udalguri in Bodoland Territorial Region, and accordingly the ECI published it’s draft of constituency delimitaton with paving Kokrajhar Lok Sabha as reserved for ST and some assembly segments of BTR region under the nomenclature of proposed Darang Lok Sabha seat.
He said that the UPPL party and it’s leaders are in favour of creating of two Lok Sabha seats in BTC including Kokrajhar and Udalguri and pressing the concern authority to consider the issues.
” UPPL party chief Pramod Boro as well party leaders put a demand to the ECI authority for keeping reserved for ST seats both Kokrajhar and proposed Udalguri Lok Sabha respectively under the spirit of Sixth Schedule provision.
Narzary denied the allegations of Mohilary and BPF party’s statement, said that the allegations levelled against the UPPL party president are totally false and baseless in today’s juncture.
He said that the opposition BPF party which was in power for 17 years in BTC administration since 2003 to 2020, today it has been trying to motivate politically among the common masses in the name of constituency delimitaton across the region.
He said that BPF president Hagrama Mohilary and it’s leaders had nothing said regarding the constituency delimitaton process during the 2007 and today BPF leaders are making unnecessary remarks over the constituency delimitaton across the state.
He informed that through the draft publication of constituency delimitaton, the BTR region have an opportunity to get 15 MLA segments including six assembly segments as reserved for ST.
He said that the UPPL party and BTC Govt are jointly stepping to work out to create Udalguri Lok Sabha seat in place of the proposed Darrang Lok Sabha seat along with Kokrajhar Lok Sabha that comprising 15 assembly segments under BTC administration.
He said that UPPL party is always for the peoples of the Bodoland Territorial Region and subsequently initiating necessary steps to ensure healthy protection of the common masses in the region.
“We are coming out to work for all round development and welfare of the citizens in Bodoland region. UPPL party is always working deliberately towards welfare and development of the common masses since it’s inception, he said adding that the Opposition BPF party never thought and expressed their well-being of the common masses in their reign period, they had only perpetrated massive anomalies and misappropriation of the welfare and development packages which were meant for the public.
He has accused that BPF chief Mohilary and it’s party leaders are maintaining double standards while trying to attract the common masses for their political benefits.
He said that BPF party is showing only its pretended strategies through the politically motivated step to create confusion among the citizens.
He has termed that BPF party and it’s leaders are aimless because they sometime stage protest and sometimes withdraws their protest decisions.
