KOKRAJHAR, MAR 8: Chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro ceremonially launched Mother’s Club, a step for facilitating welfare of the mothers in Bodoland region on the occasion of celebrating International Women’s Day 2023 on Wednesday.
The women’s wing of United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) central committee in association with district committees of Chirang and Bijni jointly celebrated the international women’s day today held at Khungring High School playground in Chirang that witnessed huge gathering participated from different parts of the district.
During the occasion,womens those are coming with specialization on their success steps were offered warm welcome and felicitation with citation and traditional Aronai as well endi shawl.
CEM (BTR), Boro graced as chief guest on the occasion and marking the international women’s day celebration, launched the Mother’s Club which is an initiative to work for the welfare and uplift of the mothers as well women community among the society.
In his speech, Boro has lauded the UPPL women’s wing and organises for organizing the women’s day that highlighted about the development and welfare aspects of the women fraternities.
He said that women community is a part of social integration.He said that the international women’s day is globally celebrated annually as a focal point in the women’s rights,welfare movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, violence and abuse against women.
He has opined that the empowering women is a necessity to pull off a sustainable society with gender equality. He informed that the BTR government has been stepping to make all round development of the citizens across the Bodoland region. He has urged the citizens to come forward while bringing ushering of massive development and welfare cutting across the communities.
” This year the theme for International Women’s Day is “Digital Innovation and technology for gender equality” under the slogan of “embracing equity”. Every year International Women’s Day is observed to recognise the cultural, political, social, and economic achievements made by women

Prof Chirati Swargiary of Janata College, Serfanguri,Julie Basumatary, police officer,Panjamuti Basumatary, circle officer were attended as guest speakers on the occasion.
Assam cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Rajya Sabha MP, Rwngwra Narzary, BTR executive members Ranjit Basumatary,Dr Nilut Swargiary,MLAs Jayanta Basumatary, Lawrence Islary were prominent attendees in the programme.
The meeting was chaired by Pratibha Brahma, president of UPPL women’s wing.
Meanwhile,more than 500 new members from different parties and organizations including BPF joined the UPPL party in the presence of UPPL president and BTR CEM, Pramod Boro and several senior party leaders.
