Review meeting on the implementation of BTR peace accord clauses held

KOKRAJHAR, JUNE 13: A review meeting on the implementation of Bodo Peace Accord, 2020 (Bodoland Territorial Region) clauses was held on Monday evening at Janata Bhawan, Dispur in Guwahati where the government of Assam has emphasized to implement all of the clauses of the BTR accord with letter and spirit.
Notably, the historic BTR peace accord, 2020 was signed on 27th January which was regarded as third Bodo peace accord in a tripartite peace talks that led a permanent peace and tranquility cutting across the communities in Bodoland region.

The meeting was chaired by chief minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and attended by cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro, Executive Members Ranjit Basumatary, Ghanashyam Das, MCLAs Sanjoy Swargiary, Saikhong Basumatary, former NDFB leader Anjalu Basumatary.

The meeting discussed thoroughly on the action taken report on the implementation of the Bodo Peace Accord, 2020 that has been stressing for healthy development and welfare of the Bodoland region.
The government has made the decision to implement all of the accord’s clauses, and each one has been thoroughly discussed and several major decisions were taken which included increase of BTC constituency from 40 to 60 within a short span of time after the delimitation process in Assam is completed, along with the inclusion of new villages in Bodoland Territorial Region, steps to be taken to rehabilitate all ex-NDFB cadres and provide ex-gratia to the next of kin of Bodoland martyrs in a timely manner, provincialization of the college/schools in BTR will be completed within a short period of time, and for this, the concerned department has been directed to begin the process as soon as possible and the pending cases and under-trials against NDFB cadres are also discussed and necessary steps have been emphasizing for disposal of the cases. Besides this, in addition to the special development package from central and state government for undertaking specific projects will also be streamlined which will make more ushering of sustainable development in days to come.

CEM Pramod Boro has hailed the meeting, said that it was a fruitful discussion on the action taken report on the implementation of Bodo peace accord, 2020 and resolved to initiate strong steps to ensure healthy welfare and development in the region.
He said that the meeting was ended on a positive note in which the chief minister emphasized the importance of ensuring the smooth implementation of the accord for the overall development and progress of the Bodoland region.
He informed that the constituency in BTC will be increased to 60 from existing 40 through the spirit of BTR peace accord.

The meeting discussed for solving the pending issues concerning the Bodo Society and solving the concerning issues of NDFB cadres for the peace and progress of BTR”, Boro said adding that under the visionary guidance of state’s dynamic CM & through the collective efforts in BTR is today advancing rapidly on the path of peace, progress & good governance and the meeting will further pave the way forward towards the journey in Bodoland region.
