KOKRAJHAR, OCT 12: The districts of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) also joined the implementation of the district-level inauguration of the Polio Sub-National Immunization Day (SNID) on Sunday held at different places in the region, marking the beginning of a major health drive to protect children against poliomyelitis.
In Kokrajhar,the inaugural drive program of the Polio immunization was held at the Rup Nath Brahma Civil Hospital in Kokrajhar amidst presence of officials from district administration, health department officers,and nurses.
Under the campaign theme “Two Drops for Every Child,” health officials aim to administer polio drops to all children up to five years of age across the district.
The district target has been set at 1,21,677 children (0–5 years), with immunization activities being carried out through 736 polio booths manned by trained health workers, ASHA and Anganwadi volunteers.
Officials urged parents to ensure that every eligible child receives the two essential drops to keep Kokrajhar and India polio-free.
In Chirang, the Polio Immunization Drive began in Chirang district on Sunday, with health officials aiming to administer polio drops to all children below five years of age.
According to the District Health Department, the campaign targets around 60,246 children across the district. The drive is part of the nationwide effort to maintain India’s polio-free status through sustained immunization and public awareness activities.
Health workers and ASHA volunteers have been deployed across urban and rural areas to ensure full coverage and community participation.
