KOKRAJHAR,SEP 16: In a shocking, a passenger bus was caught fire late last night in Kokrajhar district.
The incident took place at Patgaon along the National Highway at around 12.40 am in a devastating blaze that created caused on the bus.
Hitesh Basumatary, officer of police Kokrajhar said that the passenger bus bearing registration number AR01M-0924, which was traveling from Siliguri towards Tezpur, suddenly went up in flames due to a mechanical fault.
He thanks to the brave and immediate efforts of the Officer-in-Charge of Patgaon Police Station, all passengers were successfully evacuated from the bus. There were 22 passengers onboard, and fortunately, none of them were harmed.
Later, the Kokrajhar Fire & Emergency Services managed to bring the fire under control.
The timely action of Sub-Inspector Amirul Hussain, Sub-Inspector Ashim Roy, and the entire staff of Patgaon Police Outpost saved the lives of 22 passengers.
Local people have highly praised the police for this courageous rescue effort. Basumatary added.
