District administration prepares to conduct BTC elections in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, AUG 27 : The district administration has prepared necessary preparation to conduct the upcoming BTC elections 2025 in a smooth and peaceful scheduled to be held on September 2. 

Addressing the reporters at a press conference held at DC office conference hall on Wednesday, District Commissioner and Returning Officer Masanda Magdalin Pertin told that district administration has fully prepared for conducting the council elections for the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections, 2025.

According to official data, the district now has a total of 7,00,752 voters (Male: 3,50,407, Female: 3,50,340, TG: 5) compared to 6,52,877 voters in 2020, marking a 7.33% increase representing 12 constituencies across the Kokrajhar district.

A total of 942 polling stations, including auxiliary polling stations, will be set up across the district this time, compared to 886 in 2020 — an increase of 6.3%. Out of the 12 constituencies in the district, 9 are reserved for ST candidates, 2 for non-ST, and 1 is open.

Pertin informed that nomination papers can be filed from August 27 to September 2 between 11 AM to 3 PM. The last date for filing nominations is September 2, while scrutiny of nominations will be conducted on September 4. The list of validly nominated candidates will also be published on the same day. Candidates may withdraw their candidature till September 6, when the final list of contesting candidates will be published.
