Hopeful more ushering of quality education in BTR
KOKRAJHAR, AUG 13: In a significant step towards the educational juncture,
the Udalguri Campus of Bodoland University was inaugurated on Wednesday at Udalguri College.
The launch of this new campus, described as part of the BTR government’s vision to build a “Smart Bodoland,” aims to expand higher education opportunities for students in Udalguri district and neighbouring areas, contributing to the academic growth of Bodoland region.
The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro attended the event as chief guest and inaugurated the campus in the presence of Bodoland University Vice-Chancellor Prof. BL Ahuja, Registrar Dr. Subung Basumatary, All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) president Dipen Boro, Bodo Sahitya Sabha general secretary Nilakanta Goyary, along with dignitaries, academicians, principals, senior citizens, students, and guardians.
The campus will begin operations from the 2025 academic session at Udalguri College before shifting to Dwifang. Initially, it will offer three departments like Political Science, Education, and Bodo — staffed by guest faculty.
CEM of BTR, Pramod Boro has stated that the government of Bodoland Territorial Region has initiated several initiatives towards the uplift and development of the quality education.He said that the BTR government has opined to nurture quality among the young generations across the region
” An educated Bodoland is the first step to building an empowered Bodoland. In line with this vision, I was delighted to inaugurate the Udalguri Campus of Bodoland University at Udalguri College today”, he said adding that the operationalisation of this new campus, a reflection of resolve to build a “Smart Bodoland”, which will open newer & better opportunities of higher learning for students of Udalguri district and surrounding regions, and contribute to the academic development of BTR.
ABSU president Dipen Boro extended warm welcome and congratulations to the inauguration of Udalguri Campus of Bodoland University.
” As per the long standing demand of ABSU, in a historic step, today the Bodoland University Udalguri Campus inaugurated by BTR CEM Shri Pramod Boro in presence of Prof. B L Ahuja, Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Subung Basumatary, Registrar, Bodoland University and many more dignitaries, academician, principal and senior citizens, students, guardian etc”,he said.
He has expressed his hopeful that
the campus will start initially at Udalguri College and later shifted to Dwifang with three department- Political science, Education and Bodo from this session 2025 with guest faculty. Hope this campus will fulfil the aspirations of students in higher education sector.
