UPPL fully prepared to contest BTC elections: Pramod Boro
KOKRAJHAR,AUG 5: The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) celebrated its glorious 10th Foundation Day with a day-long programme as Sangkalpa Divosh at Dotma in Kokrajhar on Tuesday amidst a well attended gathering. The event was organised centrally with the participation of party leaders, members, and supporters from across the region.
As part of the programme scheduled, UPPL president and Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro, hoisted the party flag on the occasion. Assam cabinet minister and founder president of UPPL, Urkhao Gwra Brahma paid floral tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in honour of the party’s journey and contributions to the region.
On the occasion, CEM of BTR, Pramod Boro paid floral tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma at his Thulungapuri Somadhi,Dotma accompanied with party leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, CEM Pramod Boro stated that with the blessings of the people of BTR, UPPL has steadily grown in strength in the past decade, and continue to uphold party’s commitment to peace, progress, and prosperity in Bodoland region.
He further said that the UPPL party is guided by core principles of peace, equality, justice, and progress, the party reaffirmed collective resolve to build a united, inclusive and harmonious BTR where every community and individual thrives with dignity and opportunity.
He stated that the UPPL party is committed to work for all round development of the citizens across the communities in the region.He informed that the government of BTR has been rendering relentless services towards the welfare and development of the people since it’s inception in the reign.

UPPL president Pramod Boro while responding to BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary’s recent remarks about breaking the alliance with the BJP and contesting all 40 seats in the upcoming BTC elections, said that the UPPL party is fully prepared to contest the upcoming BTC elections.
Boro stated, “During my tenure, Hagrama Mohilary never attended any meetings as well BTCLA assembly session when we called him regarding the alliance. He had always maintained that the alliance was intact. Now suddenly he speaks of a breakdown.”
UPPL General Secretary, Raju Narzaryhas come down heavily and criticized political campaigns based on religious polarisation in the region by some section of political party leaders.
He stated, “The UPPL has never allowed any campaign targeting religious communities like Hindus, Muslims, or Christians during BTR elections.” He further added that BJP leader Dilip Saikia, during his campaign, “did not even mention important issues such as the Sixth Schedule or the rights of people living in Tribal Belts and Blocks.”
Among others, UPPL general secretary, Madhab Chandra Chetry, Lok Sabha MP Joyanta Basumatary, MLAs Lawrence Islary,Jiran Basumatary,and several senior party leaders were present in the event.
