District-Level meeting with student bodies held in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR,  JUNE 25:  A district-level meeting to address the recent surge in malaria cases in parts of the Kokrajhar district was held on Tuesday at the conference hall of the Joint Director of Health Services (Jt. DHS), Kokrajhar, involving student representatives from the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), the Santali Students’ Union and All Assam Santali Women’s Association

The meeting was chaired by Sikha Barthakur, who delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of coordinated community action and the role of youth in public health advocacy. A fruitful and constructive discussion followed between members of the National Health Mission (NHM) team and students’ union representatives.

The meeting focused on preventive strategies, awareness campaigns, and multi-stakeholder collaboration to tackle what is being seen as a potential endemic-like situation in certain malaria-affected localities.

The key objective of the meeting was to mobilize communities, create health awareness, and ensure proactive measures within educational campuses and adjoining areas to prevent the spread of malaria.

The government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and Health & Family Welfare department have jointly initiated a step to prevent the malaria disease,and organised several awareness programme amongst the citizens to create awareness on the malaria related cases.The student bodies expressed their cooperation and support to the concerned authorities to prevent the malaria cases in the district.
