KOKRAJHAR, JUNE 11: A ceremonial grant-in-aid distribution programme under the State-Owned Priority Development (SOPD) scheme amongst the women self help groups(SHGs) was held on Wednesday at the district agriculture office in Kokrajhar.
The event was organised today by the Agriculture Department, Kokrajhar to extend support Women’s Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) districts.
BTC MCLA and Chairman of the BTC Agriculture Department, Joy Muchahary graced the event as chief guest and distributed the cheques in the presence of senior officials and dignitaries.
A total of 135 SHGs in Kokrajhar district received cheques of ₹20,000 cheque each today. 500 SHGs across the five districts of BTR are being provided the cheques, aiming to enhance agricultural productivity, rural entrepreneurship, and women’s economic empowerment.
Muchahary stated that this effort is part of a broader strategy of Pramod Boro led BTR government to promote sustainable agriculture and strengthen the rural economy through active participation of women-led self help groups.
He said that the government of Bodoland Territorial Region and Agriculture department is working dedicatedly towards the ushering of sustainable development of the agricultural aspects across the region.He said that the concerned authorities have initiated necessary initiatives to strengthen the agricultural aspects.
