KOKRAJHAR,MAR 9: A self-defense training under Baksa district for girls and young women is going on under the banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme under 5 ICDS blocks (Baska, Tihu Barama, Dhamdhama, Jalah and Gobardhana).
It is starting since 2nd December 2024 and total 130 number of girls and young women are undergoing training.
The objective of the camp is to create awareness on Importance of Self Defense, life skills and personal safety skills especially for girls and young women which will make the society awareness through demonstration by the ongoing camps in the District.
OInstructors of self-defense training under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme Baksa are- Danswrang Daimary (WUSU-NS-NIS Certificate, Coach and National Judge and referee (Black Belt 1st Dan (Kick Boxing). He is incharge for training at Mushalpur centre under Baska ICDS Block.
Dharani Dhar Basumatary- Kung Fu Black Belt 1st Dan. He is incharge for training under Gobardhana ICDS Block.
Bidon Baro- Kung fu, Black Belt 1st Dan. He is incharge for training under Dhamdhama ICDS block.
Rajen Ramchiary-Kung fu, Black Belt 3rd Dan, National Judge and referee. He is incharge for training under Tihu Barama ICDS Block.
Sensei Janak Uzir, BPES, Dist Tech Director, Black Belt 4th Dan, Karate, (Kanyakumari & Chennai, India. Hi is overall incharge for self defense training under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Baksa District and additionally looking after Jalah ICDS Block of Baksa Dist.
One recent achievement from our training camp is that Miss Sibika Ramchiary of Village Kambrigaon, PO- Dhanbil, PS-Barbari, Dist-Baksa who has achieved silver medal in the All India Inter University Wushu Championship which held in Chandigarh University from 22nd to 27th Feb 2025.
Background of Miss Sibika Ramchiary:
She is now 19 years old age and she enrolled in our self Defense training camp under Baska ICDS, Mushalpur in December 2024 by getting the information of the training camp from her classmate. She is sports enthusiastic and as they are from BPL family and hence could not afford to continue private self defense training course. Since her childhood she is very interested in sports and hence taking part in the free self defense training camp organized by District Hub for Empowerment of Women, under District Social welfare officer, Baksa under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme at Mushalpur training Centre which is under Baska ICDS Project area. She has one younger sister and one younger brother in her family and both parents, her father works as a labour in a company at Bangalore, Karnataka.
She has performed well defying all odds such as financial odds and got social as well as training support under free self-defense training camp organized by Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme, Baksa.
