Watershed Yatra organises in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR,MAR 1:  A “Watershed Yatra” was carried out in Kokrajhar being held at the Doljhora village on Saturday.

The event was organised by the department of Soil conservation of Kokrajhar division that witnessed a sapling plantation drive.
The event was attended by District Commissioner,Kokrajhar Masanda Magdalin Pertin as chief guest.

The event has been aimed to create awareness among the farmers and village people regarding soil and water conservation. 
The watershed Yatra began with Bhumi Pujan by DC for horticulture plantation followed by flagging off of watershed van. 
The watershed van has been provided by the department of Land Resources, Govt of India and has already covered more than 20 districts of  Assam. The watershed van comprises of led tv along with various flex and banners showcasing different successful schemes implemented by Soil Conservation Department and also awareness banners. 

Subsequently, a plantation programme was conducted and saplings were planted by DC, Kokrajhar along with additional director cum CHD, soil conservation department and divisional officer, Kokrajhar soil conservation division. 
A traditional Bodo cultural programme was also performed by local villagers of Doljhora followed by speech of regarding watershed yatra. 

DC Pertin encouraged and motivated the village people to follow good agricultural practices and take necessary steps for preservation and conservation of soil and water.
