Amit Shah to grace 57th annual conference at Dotma
KOKRAJHAR,FEB 9: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has sought a strengthening of the power and autonomy of the Sixth Schedule areas in the state of Assam.
In this regard,a four member delegation of the ABSU,led by Pramod Boro,the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) met Union Home Minister, Amit Shah at his official residence Krishna Menon Marg in New Delhi on Sunday evening.
The delegation team, comprised of ABSU president Dipen Boro, MPs Rwngwra Narzary and Joyanta Basumatary, that discussed at length on the 125th Amendment of the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, emphasizing the need to strengthen the power and autonomy of Sixth Schedule areas. The team also advocated for the Finance Commission to enhance the financial capacity of autonomous councils, ensuring better governance and development in Sixth Schedule regions. The delegation urged Home Minister Shah for the amendment to be passed in the ongoing Budget Session in the parliament.
Additionally, ABSU extended a formal invitation to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to grace the 57th Annual Conference of ABSU as the chief guest on March 15 or 16, 2025, at Dotma, where over three lakh people are expected to participate.The Home Minister Amit Shah has assured his presence at the mega event.

The delegation discussed the 125th Amendment of the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, emphasizing the need to strengthen the power and autonomy of Sixth Schedule areas.
