KOKRAJHAR, DEC 7: Saikhong Basumatary and Sajal Kumar Singha were officially sworn in as Executive Members of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) at a ceremony held at the BTC Legislative Assembly Auditorium, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar on Saturday.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by BTC Principal Secretary, Akash Deep in the presence of Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Katiram Boro Speaker of BTCLA,Deputy Speaker Abhiram Mohanayak.
The ceremony was witnessed by the presence of several prominent dignitaries, including Lok Sabha MP Joyanta Basumatary, and BTC Executive Members, Ranjit Basumatary and Dr. Nilut Swargiary, among other distinguished personalities.
Sajal Kumar Singha, who is representing the Srirampur constituency, was initially elected as a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) during the 2020 BTC elections.However, he switched over to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the formation of the BTC government in 2020.
Saikhong Basumatary, who elected from the Chirang constituency, was originally a member of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF). He later joined the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), aligning with the present BTC Govt.
Notably, the two berths of the EMs were vacant for few months due to removal of former EMs of BTC, namely Ghanashyam Das and Reoreoa Narzihary from the Executive Council of the Bodoland Territorial Council.
With the induction of two EMs in the BTC,the strength of the EMs of the Executive Council has gone 17 including the CEM, deputy CEM of the Bodoland Territorial Council.
Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Council,has extended his hearty congratulations to Singha and Basumatary, on the induction of two more new EMs of the Executive Council of the Bodoland Territorial Council,and hopeful that more developmental aspects will be ushered in days to come ahead. He said that the government of BTC is fully committed to work for all round development, and welfare of the common masses across the region.
