KOKRAJHAR,NOV 27: The surging of malaria in Kokrajhar district and it’s adjoining areas have been creating chaostic amongst the citizens since past few days across the region.
Notably,five peoples have confirmed deaths in the past few days—including a 4-year-old girl raising significant public health concerns in the region.

According to official data, 2,096 cases of malaria positive recorded in 2024 till now, compared to just 256 cases earlier in 2023.  
A review meeting on the sparking of the malaria was held at the Chandrapara in Kokrajhar with the officials of the medical department, malaria district official in the presence of BTR executive member, Arup Kumar Dey, district commissioner,and stakeholders to discuss strategies to curb the spread of this dreaded disease in the region.

Pramod Boro,the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, chaired the meeting,and discussed thoroughly on the preventive measures strategic initiatives to eradicate the malaria disease.

CEM Boro stated that the Malaria cases are rising in Kokrajhar district & other parts of BTR, with 2,096 cases reported (Plasmodium Vivax: 1,674, Plasmodium Falciparum: 422) & five fatalities.He said that the Govt of BTR, and Health department are taking stern step while eradicating the Malaria with necessary strategic measures.He informed that the concern authority has initiated all necessary actions—medical camps, active monitoring, boosted health teams & ambulance services along the affected areas. He urged everyone to take precautions to prevent the spread,and take medicative facilities being initiated by the health & family welfare department.
“Our government remains committed to achieving a ‘Malaria-Free BTR.Reaffirming this commitment, I chaired a meeting on Tuesday evening with officials from the medical department to discuss strategies to curb the spread of this dreaded disease in the region”, Boro added.

Meanwhile,Dr P Ashok Babu, Commissioner & Secretary to the Govt of Assam, Health & Family welfare department is arriving in Kokrajhar on Thursday morning to take stock about the prevailing situation of malaria spread.He will visit at the malaria endemic Lungsung area to assess the malaria affected situation on the day during his visit besides holding a review meeting with officials of the health department,and district administration.
