KOKRAJHAR,Oct 17: Along with rest of the state, the districts of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) joined the celebrations of the Kati Gasa Pwrbw (Kati Bihu) being celebrated on Thursday.with traditional phenomenon by lighting earthen lamps on the paddy field.
In Kokrajhar,the district agricultural office, government of BTR celebrated the Kati Gasa Pwrbw amidst presence of farmer and local peoples cutting across the communities being held at the Ranighat LP School playground under Simbargaon VCDC.
Peoples cutting across the communities,apart from farmers,men and women are coming out to celebrate the Kati Gasa on the occasion to offer prayer and worship to the God Kartik Devota for getting rid from insect’s effect of the paddy and other crops.
Notably,the Kati Gasa Pwrbw has been celebrating every year on the last day of the Ashin month to mark the wishing wellbeing of the paddy crops.
Peoples, especially women folk are seen busy while lighting the Gasa lamps along the paddy field in the evening,and offered their prayers and worship to the Karthik Devota.
MLA Lawrence Islary, officials from agricultural department, Kokrajhar graced the occasion,and extended their Kati Bihu greetings to all citizens of the region.
In Baksa, Assam cabinet minister, Urkhao Gwra Brahma graced the Kati Gasa Pwrbw celebration being held at the Belguri Pwthar in Mushalpur.
Minister Brahma inaugurated the Kati Gasa Pwrbw amid thronging large number of participation of farmer and local citizens which was organised by the district agricultural office, Mushalpur.
Brahma also offered warm felicitation to the several farmers on the occasion,and wished a happy Kati Bihu to all citizens of the state.
Minister Brahma stated that the Kati Gasa festival which is celebrated across the state today in a way to offer prayer and worship to the Karthik Devota for the goodness of the paddy and other crops.
” The Kati Gasa is a festival of harvesting crops,and accordingly peoples in the state of Assam,has been celebrating the festival every year on the last day of the Ashin month to get welfare and well-being of the paddy crops and human beings”, Brahma said.
In Chirang,peoples have come out in the evening for lighting the Gasa lamp along the paddy field,and offered their prayers and worship to the Karthik God to get healthy goodness of the crops.
Pramod Boro,the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, extended his Kati Bihu greetings to all the citizens of the state on the occasion of Kati Gasa festival (Kati Bihu), said that it is a festival of peoples who are involving with agricultural cropping among the society.
The ruling United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) party also extended it’s best wishes greetings to all the citizens of the Bodoland region as well state of Assam as a whole.
