KOKRAJHAR, SEP 13: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has sought to the Government of India for setting up of Finance Commision for more financial power in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) for establishing healthy welfare and development of the region.
ABSU president Dipen Boro after attending a review meeting on the BTR Peace Accord 2020 in New Delhi on Friday stated that the ABSU and other signatory organisations have been jointly urging the Govt of India to make properly implementation of the clauses of the BTR Peace Accord.He has sought to the Govt of India for establishing Finance Commision in BTR to have more financial power in days to come in a speedy manner.
A tripartite review meeting was held on Friday at North Block, New Delhi under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Bodo Accord, 2020( BTR Agreement) under the Chairman of Union Home Secretary, Gobind Mohan, IAS, Addl. Secretary, NE, Piyush Goyal, Adviser NE, A. K. Mishra, Jt. Director, IB etc.The ABSU delegation team headed by Dipen Boro, president, Khanindra Basumatary, general secretary, Kwrwmdao Wary, vice president attended in Delhi and Chief Secretary Assam, Ravi Kota, ADGP(SB) Hiren Nath, Principal Secretary of BTR Akash Deep virtually were participated from Dispur and Kokrajhar respectively.
The meeting was fruitful and practical after long days since it’s BTR Peace Accord
The meeting has emphasized deeply into the implementation in speedy manner on the clauses of the BTR Peace Accord which included inclusion of more villages from Sonitpur, Biswanath and southern part of BTR, increase of 60 seats from exiting 40 seats in BTR,125th Amendment of sixth schedule to the constitution of India, setting up Finance commission for more financial power.
ABSU president Dipen Boro has demanded BKWAC village notification, Land entitlement through FRA- Sonitpur, Biswanath, Hojai, Goalpara etc.
He also demanded ST(Hills ) status to Boro- Kachari of Karibi Anglong, School provincialisation of BTR and Assam, establishment of centre of excellence cum culture centre, Dotma in Kokrajhar, establishment of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Central University in Baksa, establishment of NIT, Udalguri.establishmsnf of NERIMS in Chirang, case withdrawal of ex-NDFB cadres and NIA case stopped, allotment of ex- gratia to the martyr families, providing of rehabilitation to remaining cadres and infrastructural and development package implementation in speedy manner.
ABSU president stated that the ABSU will continue its continuous efforts for implemention of BTR accord and demanded today for start of most of the projects before 2025. He said that the review meeting was a meaningful and fruitful with good sharing of views regarding the properly implementation of the BTR Peace Accord clauses.He said that the Bodoland region has been witnessed a peace and tranquility amongst the citizens across the region since signing the BTR Peace Accord in 2020(27th January).
