KOKRAJHAR,AUG 10: The first ever conference of all autonomous district councils under the Sixth Schedule of the constitution of India was held at the Heritage Club Tripura Castle, Shillong on Saturday in Meghalaya.
The inaugural conference of the autonomous district councils under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India, witnessed a grand participation from different sixth schedule councils from the different states of the northeastern region.
The event brought together leaders and representatives from all 10 Sixth Schedule councils in the northeast, including Chief Executive Members (CEMs), Executive Members, and other prominent dignitaries.
During the conference, participants have emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among the councils.
They(the autonomous councils) advocated for presenting a unified voice in raising their demands with the government of India, aiming to strengthen their collective influence and address regional issues effectively.
A five member’s delegation team representing the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) under the leadership of the chief executive member of BTR, Pramod Boro graced the event,and addressed the need of unity and cooperation amongst the autonomous district councils under the sixth schedule of the constitution of India.
The delegation team members were included BTCLA speaker Katiram Boro, BTR EMs Nilut Swargiary,Ranjit Basumatary, Daobaisa Boro.
CEM of BTR, Pramod Boro has highlighted the need of unity and cooperation amongst the autonomous district councils including Bodoland Territorial Region to render services for bringing welfare and development in the region.He extended warm welcome and greetings to all participants representing the ten district councils under the sixth schedule of the constitution of India.
