KOKRAJHAR, JULY 12: In a tragic incident, a 18-year-old girl has been drowned at a river,and her death body was recovered on Friday at Kujiya River near Bhumiswar Hill in Chirang district.
The incident took place on Thursday at the Kachugaon Rabhapara remote village in Chirang district.The girl was identified as Janmoni Rabha of Tezpur.
According to local people, one Janmoni Rabha from Tezpur visited her elder sister’s house in Chirang, in the small village of Kachugaon Rabhapara near Bhumiswar Hill on Thursday, and she reportedly drowned in the nearby Kujiya River while trying to save her sister’s 2 and half year old daughter.
Although the baby survived, Janmoni tragically lost her life in the incident.
By the active involvement of the District Administration,Chirang, NDRF and SDRF team the search operation of the dead body of Janmoni Rabha was recovered today.She went missing after falling from the bridge while saving her niece.
The body has been sent for postmortem.
Assam cabinet minister, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Rajya Sabha MP, Rwngwra Narzary visited to the family members,and extended deepest sorrow and condolences to the bereaved family during the difficult time.
