KOKRAJHAR, APRIL 23: Noted Agriculturist Sarbeswar Basumatary of Chirang district was conferred Padmashri Award at a programme held in New Delhi on Monday.
Remarkably, Basumatary is popularly known as an eminent Agriculturist of Bijni in Chirang district of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
Basumatary’s recognition amongst the citizens has been coming from the field of Agricultural as he is a prominent farmer and rendering his welfare services towards the uplift and development of the agricultural aspects in the region.
Basumatary received the Padmashri from the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu.
A resident of Chirang district of Bodoland Territorial Region.He is a distinguished farmer, currently serving as the member of Advisory Board of Fishery Department of Chirang. He is also a member of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Sericulture of Chirang district.
After receiving the Padmashri, Basumatary expressed his gratitude and thanks to the President of India, and government of India for conferring the respect and honour amidst the presence of several senior citizens, ministers of the Union Government.He said that the conferring the Padmashri respect is encouraging him to work more farming in his life.
The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro has extended his warm greetings and congratulations to Sarbeswar Basumatary,who received the Padmashri respect.
