KOKRAJHAR, APRIL 9: Assam cabinet minister Nandita Gorlosa on Saturday visited Kokrajhar to witness District Level Bihu preparation for Kokrajhar ahead of the mega Bihu celebrations in Guwahati to seal the Guinness Book of World Record for the largest Bihu dance at a single event on April 14.
Assam is all set to glorify its name in Guinness Book of World Records with a scintillating performance of Bihu dance by a record number of Bihu artistes. Minister Gorlosa along with MLAs Lawrence Islary, Jiron Basumatary and Bodoland Territorial Region executive member Reoreoa Narzihary and DC, Kokrajhar, Varnali Deka, IAS oversaw the Bihu practice wherein more than 100 artists, including 70 girls and 30 boys and 4 master trainers are practicing to participate in the coveted event. Minister inspected the practice session and expressed her satisfaction and hopeful that the event would be a grand success.
Addressing the gathering Minister Gorlosa expressed her satisfaction and wished the performers best wishes. In her speech, she encouraged the Bihu performers and asked to maintain dignity and discipline while performing in Guwahati. She thanked the chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for the initiative.
DC Varnali Deka interacted with the participants, encouraged and motivated them and conveyed her best wishes to all of them.
MLA Lawrence Islary and Vice Chancellor of Bodoland University Prof Laishram Ladu Singh also spoke on the occasion and wished performers.
