KOKRAJHAR, MAR 4: A one-day Farmer Producer Organisations(FPO) meet under the Bodofa Livelihood Mission, government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) was held at Barlawgaon playground, Bijni in Chirang district on Monday.
Notably, the government of Bodoland Territorial Region has been emphasizing to empower the farming communities in the region, and initiated the noble venture.
Thousands of farmers representing various FPO from the districts of Bodoland Territorial Region participated the program, which was organised by BTR government to discuss at length over the ushering of sustainable development of agricultural farming in the region.
A total of 104 numbers of FPOs and 22 numbers of cooperative society were given away cheques as financial assistance under the Bodofa Livelihood Mission across the BTR region. Each of the FPO and cooperative society was given away Rs.1.5 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively.
Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Rwngwra Narzary, Rajya Sabha MP, BTR executive members Dhananjay Basumatary, Dharma Narayan Das have distributed the cheques to the FPO and cooperative societies amidst presence of huge gathering of farming fraternities.
CEM Boro said that the government of BTR is committed to empower the farming fraternities across the Bodoland region to make massive ushering of sustainable development in the farming sector. He informed that financial assistance have been given away to the FPO beneficiary,and supporting through the collective efforts while enhancing the well-being of the farming communities.
He said that the BTR government has been initiating a step to support financially to the farmers to celebrate and uplift of farmers, who are the true heroes of the society to get a brighter and more prosperous future for agriculture sector in Bodoland Territorial Region districts.
” It was a glad moment to be part of the get-together program of the FPO members from different parts of the Bodoland region,and have a well environment while bringing up a healthy discussion over the well-being of the farming communities”, Boro said.
Meanwhile, CEM Pramod Boro also inaugurated the newly constructed 5 MT( matric tone) Solar-powered Cold Storage Unit situated at Panbari of Chirang district.
The unit was built in collaboration with the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Ltd. (NERAMAC), which is expected greatly to augment the agricultural infrastructure of BTR.
” It was a great pleasure to inaugurate the cold storage unit which is now the perishable agro produce of Bodoland region’s farmers can be preserved for a longer time, thus reducing spoilage and helping to enhance our farmers’ incomes in days to come “, Boro added.
Among others, BTR executive members Ghanshyam Das, MCLA Madhab Chandra Chetry, commodore Rajiv Ashok (Retd), Managing Director, NERAMAC, and several dignitaries were present on the occasion.
