4th BTR Peace Accord Day celebrates

KOKRAJHAR, JAN 27: A total of 200 more martyrs families were given Rs 5 lakh each as ex-gratia on the occasion of celebration of 4th Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Peace Accord on Saturday in Kokrajhar.

Remarkably,the BTR Peace Accord was signed on 27th January in 2020 in a tripartite political peace talk in between Government of India,Govt of Assam and leaders of All Bodo Students Union, former NDFB and United Bodo People’s Organisation.
As per the clause mentioned in the BTR Accord,the martyrs family’s kin members were given ex-gratia from BTR government.
The ex-gratia distribution ceremony was organised at Bodofa Cultural Complex, Chandamari in Kokrajhar.

Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Assam cabinet minister, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, BTR executive member Ranjit Basumatary, MLA Lawrence Islary were graced the occasion and distributed the cheques of Rs five lakh each to the kin members of martyrs families.

The BTR Peace Accord Day was celebrated in the districts of Bodoland Territorial Region with befitting programmes with holding peace rallies where peoples cutting across the communities took part.
The rallies were organised in all 40 constituencies in BTR to mark the historic third Bodo peace accord which was regarded as BTR Accord.

In Kokrajhar, the All Bodo Students Union celebrated the BTR Accord Day with day-long programme scheduled being held at Green Field, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar.
ABSU president Dipen Boro hoisted the students union flag on the occasion followed by homage to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma and martyrs of the Bodoland movement.

A grand foot march was also carried out which was started from JD Road and concluded at the Green Field, Bodofa Nwgwr.
ABSU president Dipen Boro extended his greetings to all citizens of the region on the occasion BTR Accord Day celebration.

CEM of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro attended the foot march being organised at Salakati block in Kokrajhar.
He said that the BTR peace accord has paved the way for massive ushering of peace and development amongst peoples in the region.He said that the BTR government is committed to work for all round development of the society.
He has recalled contribution and dedication of Bodoland martyrs,said that the Bodoland region is reached out today’s juncture through their dedication and sacrifice.
