International Day of Peace celebrates in Chirang

KOKRAJHAR, SEP 21: Along with rest of the state, the International Day of Peace was celebrated on Thursday with a day-long programme scheduled being held at the RCCC auditorium hall, Dhaligaon, Bongaigaon IOC in Chirang district.

The first time ever event in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), was organised by the Bodoland Happiness Mission with the theme of ‘actions for peace’ for bringing ambition for the global goals which is highlighting the vital role of individual and collective efforts on achieving global harmony.

Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Niketu Iralu, awardee of 2023 Bhupen Hazarika Integration Award, 2011 UN Brahma Soldier of Humanity Award and the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi award; and Prakash Mayasandra, a core team member to help curate Disom Leadership School were graced as guests in the event.

CEM Pramod Boro while highlighting about the initiative of Bodoland Happiness Mission, said that the government of Bodoland Territorial Region is working dedicatedly towards the welfare and uplift of the society since it’s inception in BTR. He informed that the Bodoland region has witnessed a good environment of congenial situation post signing of the BTR peace accord in 2020 and accordingly today entire Bodoland is region is getting new heights in the field of peace and tranquility amongst the communities.
He has lauded the organisers for organising the event to explore peace and integrity across the Bodoland region.

“It’s the first time that the International Day of Peace is being celebrated in the BTR, with year’s theme of ‘Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #Global Goals,’ highlighting the vital role of individual and collective efforts in achieving global harmony”, Boro added.

Niketu Iralu has appreciated the initiatives being initiated by Bodoland Happiness Mission, said that the event will highlight massive ushering of sustainable peace and tranquility amongst the communities in the Bodoland region in days to come.

Among others, BTR executive members Reoreoa Narzihary, Wilson Hasda, Dhananjay Basumatary, Gautam Das were prominent attendees.
