KOKRAJHAR, AUG 3: The sports authority of India (SAI) stadium in Kokrajhar is set stage to host the 132nd edition of Durand Cup,2023 which is scheduled to begin on 5th August.
A mockdrill regarding the preparation as well giving final touch of all field decorations including multi cultural dancing rehearsal was carried out today in the presence of the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, senior officials from Army at the SAI stadium.
A total of nine matches of the Durand Cup will be played in Kokrajhar which would be witnessed huge gathering of sports loving citizens across the Bodoland region.
A well decorated gallery along the stadium has been erected to accommodate over ten thousand audience during the every match.
The mega football event is being organised by Indian Army in association with government of Assam and Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
Senior officials from Army have so far arrived at the stadium venue and monitoring all preparation and arrangements to meet a smooth successful of the mega football event in a disciplined manner.
The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro and officials from BTR government are closely monitoring venue preparation and arrangements.
On Thursday, CEM Pramod Boro inaugurated the newly constructed gallery of the SAI stadium in the presence of BTR executive members Daobaisa Boro, Reoreoa Narzihary, MLA Lawrence Islary, GOC Red Horns Division Maj. Gen. S. Murugesan, and several dignataries.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, and several dignataries are gracing the opening match of the Durand Cup in Kokrajhar.
In the opening match in SAI stadium in Kokrajhar, Bodoland FC will take on Rajasthan FC on 5th August.
CEM Pramod Boro told that Kokrajhar-the city of peace is fully prepared and arranged for hosting the mega football event in a grand manner. He has termed that the Durand Cup in Bodoland region is going to be historical because peoples cutting across the communities are waiting to witness the event in a big way.
He informed that necessary preparation and arrangements are so far completed.
” With just two days remaining for the Kokrajhar leg of the historic Durand Cup2023 to begin, was glad to inaugurate the newly built “Iron Gallery” at the SAI Stadium in Kokrajhar. The Iron Gallery will greatly enhance our sports infra & will enthuse our talented young sportspersons to hone their performance & further excel in their chosen sporting disciplines”, Boro added.
