KOKRAJHAR, AUG 1: A media orientation workshop on ‘SURAKSHA’ under the theme of Role of media in creating a protective environment for children in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) was held at Bodoland Guest House IN Kokrajhar today.
The workshop was organised by Centre for Development and Peace Studies (CDPS), Guwahati in association with UNICEF to facilitate a deep discussion on the welfare and protection of child rights in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro inaugurated the programme amidst presence of Deba Kumar Kalita, chairman of Assam state commission for protection of child rights (ASCPCR)

Nearly 50 journalists and members from civil society organisations(CSO) from different districts of Bodoland Territorial Region participated in the event.
CEM Boro has lauded the initiatives initiated by CDPS and UNICEF for making a wide discussion on the child rights in Bodoland region.
He said that the BTR government has been emphasizing for bringing healthy welfare and development of the children across the region.He has urged civil society organisations and media fraternities to come forward united for rendering services for sustainable welfare and development of the children.
Eminent journalist and executive editor of The Assam Tribune Prasanta Jyoti Baruah, Dr Digambar Narzary, chairperson of Nedan Foundation, senior journalists Malaya Deka, Preetam Brahma Choudhury were attended as panelists discussion in the programme.
