KOKRAJHAR, NOV 14: A workshop on the topic of ‘ Importance of Press Freedom & Role of Journalists for Effective Transformation in the Society’ was held at the IT Park, Chandrapara in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.
The event has been organised in connection with the observation of the National Press Day 2023, which was organised by information & public relations department (IPR), government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in association with Bodoland Journalists Association.
The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro graced the occasion as chief guest, Sayed Zarir Husain, the chief managing editor of News Live, and BTR executive member, Dr Nilut Swargiary graced the occasion as resource person and special guest respectively on the occasion.
Nearly hundred journalists from different districts of Bodoland Territorial Region participated the event and saw a good discussion on the topic which has been emphasizing for bringing healthy uplift and welfare of the journalists fraternities across the region.
During the occasion, five outstanding journalists of Bodoland region, namely Swapan Kumar Eich of Kokrajhar, Ananda Ramchiary of Tamulpur, Naba Kumar Deka of Udalguri, Alkas Ali of Baksa, and Hemen Sarma of Chirang, were offered warm felicitated & honoured with citations by the government of BTR.
CEM Boro has extended his greetings to all journalists fraternities on the occasion of pre-national press day observation in Kokrajhar, and said that the journalists fraternities will be benefited while acquiring more knowledge and information gaining up on their professionalism career in days to come. He said that the workshop has focused on the “importance of Press Freedom & Role of Journalists for Effective Transformation in the Society” which has been increasing significance in the current times.
He said that the journalists play an invaluable role in shaping an informed society, and in upholding the foundational principles of the democracy.
He has lauded the journalists fraternities for their hard work, unwavering commitment to ethical journalism & relentless pursuit of the truth is truly laudable.
He also congratulate all medias fraternities for their achievements & extends his best wishes to them for the future days ahead.
