36th martyr’s day observes in Udalguri

KOKRAJHAR, SEP 14: The 36th Martyr’s Day of ex-NDFB was observed at the Kajiamati Thulunga Fwthar in Udalguri on Saturday with day-long programme scheduled.

The event was organised by former NDFB members in association with Bangburgwra Foundation, Udalguri to remember the dedication and sacrifice of the former NDFB members.The day has been observing every year on 14th September to mark the death day of the Bangburgwra Boro,the first martyr of the NDFB organisation.

Pramod Boro,the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), deputy CEM and MLA, Gabinda Chandra Basumatary, ABSU president Dipen Boro,Bodo Sahitya Sabha general secretary Nilkanta Goyary, BTR executive members Ranjit Basumatary,Nilut Swargiary, and several dignataries paid homage to the martyrs,and recalled their contributions towards the movement of the Bodos for separate homeland.
An open session was also held on the occasion to mark the observation.

CEM Boro while addressing the occasion said that today’s moment is being observed to recall contributions and sacrifice of the martyrs of the NDFB who gave their supreme sacrifice for the caused of the Bodos as well other down trodden communities in the region.
” It is a glad moment to attend the open session organised on the occasion of the 36th Martyr’s Day at Thulunga Fwthar, Kajiamati, in Udalguri district today. The session saw many tributes paid to the great martyrs of BTR who gave the supreme sacrifice towards realising the dream of a Peaceful & Progressive BTR. Their ideals and sacrifices continue to be our guiding light as we strive to build the BTR of their dreams”,Boro said.
